Fall Summary
Our Fall scrimmages with UMASS, Holy Cross, Albany, Providence and
Lehigh gave us an excellent opportunity to evaluate our
progress going into the spring. The fact that we were able to
schedule such competitive games demonstrates the respect
earned from some of the top DI programs in the country and it is a
wonderful compliment to our players, coaches and of course our
ALUMNI for their performance in the past. Overall we feel we have
another talented group that has the potential to do some very good
things this spring. Our younger players had a chance to compete
against some very talented DI teams. The returning players had
their first action since our heartbreaking loss in Foxboro, MA. The
senior class is working on developing the leadership
qualities needed to put us back on top.
A few new faces, a few familiar faces and an entire team
dedicated to upholding the traditions and values our
alumni worked so hard to establish. Our 2009 fall season
is over, winter strength and conditioning workouts are in full
swing and we are just four short months away from our season
opener. We are putting the finishing touches on our 2010
schedule and would like to have that out to everyone the week
before Thanksgiving.
Fund Raising
The college and the athletic department have done a wonderful job
supporting our program. The construction on the new Turf
Field is progressing very nicely. The wet fall has slowed the
project a bit but we are still hopeful to be playing on it in the
spring. This year we are hoping to raise funds for Indoor Practice
space during January and February, outdoor turf practice space
(until the field is completed) and for support of our
training trip down south in March. The team ran a clinic in
October which funded traveling to Boston to participate in the
Catamount Classic.
We still need your support....In the next couple weeks you will be
receiving a letter from
Athletic Director Matt Bassett with some exciting news about
the current projects and key priorities underway in our
athletic department. He will also be asking for you to consider
becoming a member of the Gold Wave for the 2009-2010 year.
You can assist our Men's
Lacrosse program directly by returning the pledge card
from that mailing, or you can simply click
here and make your gift online. Your continued support
of the Men's Lacrosse program is critical for the
ongoing success of our program!
Thank you for all of your support!

The Alumni events held on the weekend of September 25-27 were
fantastic. More than 140 golfers played in the Golf Tournament,
more than 40 alumni came out for the Alumni lacrosse game and the
induction of Shane Lynch into the Gold Wave Hall of Fame was a
wonderful event. Many thanks to all those that came out to support
the program.
We are halfway through our fall practice schedule and heading out
to Boston this weekend to play in the Catamount Classic -
www.catamountclassic.com. This is the second year
of the tournament organized by the Head Men's Lacrosse Coach at the
University of Vermont - Ryan Curtis. All of the proceeds of this
event will be donated t o testicular cancer
research at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. We are very proud to
be one of the teams selected to play this year.
The boys have been working hard on and off the field. Practice is
going very well. We have a talented group of new faces and our
veteran leadership is starting to surface. This weekend in Boston
will be a good measuring stick of where we are and what we need
to do in
preparation for a successful spring.

Hope everyone had a great summer. The fall semester is off
and running. Practice started this past weekend and the
energy level was through the roof. Our Athletic Homecoming
Weekend is quickly approaching and I want to make sure
everyone is aware of several activities that involve our
program.
On Friday evening there will be a gathering in the athletic center
to recognize the many, many years of service that "Doc" Joiner
has put in. We will use Mulrooneys in Armory Square as an
informal meeting place for all those coming to town for the
weekend.
Saturday morning the
Athletic Department will be hosting a Student-Athletic/Parent
Reception in the Athletic Center lobby. We have a full field
for the Golf Outing starting at 11am. Saturday evening,
former Head Coach Shane Lynch will be inducted into the Le Moyne
College Gold Wave Hall of Fame. Cocktails (coat &
tie) start at 7pm with ceremony at 8pm and Reception at 9pm.
This is a very deserving award and I know how much it would mean to
Shane's family to have a great turnout.
Sunday marks the date of the Alumni Lacrosse Game. Face-off
at noon or whenever the alums stroll in! The complete
schedule of events is found at the link below.

I hope that all of you will stop in sometime over the course of
the weekend to support the program and Le Moyne College
Athletics.
