LE MOYNE COLLEGE TO BREAK GROUND ON TURF FIELD COMPLEX ON
AUGUST 25TH
Syracuse, NY – Le Moyne College President Dr. Fred Pestello
announced today the ground breaking for a multi-purpose turf field
complex will be held on Tuesday, August 25th at 10:00 AM at the
Niland Athletic Complex. A key component of Le Moyne’s
Achieving New Heights
capital campaign, the field will become home for four of
College’s athletic programs – men’s and
women’s soccer and men’s and women’s
lacrosse.
“As a Jesuit institution, Le Moyne College is committed to
the education of the whole person -- mind, spirit and body,”
stated Pestello. “One element of this commitment relates to
the College's athletic programs. Just as we recognize the
importance of nurturing our student-athletes in key areas such as
academics and service-learning, Le Moyne also understands that our
facilities must remain competitive to fully realize the many
benefits a vibrant athletic program provides for students, the
campus and everyone affiliated with the College.”
Located between Dick Rockwell Field and the Henninger Athletic
Center, the complex will include bleachers, a
press box, scoreboard, fencing, and landscaping. In
addition to the field, the excavation work will also
address necessary drainage improvements for
Springfield Road.
Le Moyne College encourages alumni, staff, students and supporters
to take part in this important milestone by attending the ground
breaking or viewing the ceremony live online at
