Following eight seasons at the Division I ranks, Gallagher
Driscoll returned to the Le Moyne College coaching staff prior to
the 2005-06 season. Driscoll, who brings 13 seasons of collegiate
coaching experience to the sidelines, returns to the spot where he
began his collegiate coaching career. Driscoll spent the 1995-96
and 1996-97 seasons at Le Moyne as an aide to Scott Hicks '88. The
Dolphins advanced to the NCAA tournament in each of those seasons -
the program's two most recent trips.
"We were here together as assistants, and it was one of the best
years I ever had," Le Moyne head coach Steve Evans said. "He's not
just one of the best coaches I've ever worked with, I also consider
him one of my closest friends. We've both been in this business
long enough to know that some of the best years you have are those
when you are with people who you are comfortable with and on the
same page."
After a two year stint on the Heights, Driscoll began a string of
eight seasons at the Division I level. He joined Hicks on the bench
at the University at Albany for three seasons and spent two seasons
on his staff at Loyola College. Driscoll returned to UAlbany for
three seasons as the top assistant with the Great Danes prior to
returning to Le Moyne.
Like head coach Steve Evans, Driscoll was a collegiate point
guard. He started four seasons in the backcourt at the College of
Saint Rose. A three-year captain, Driscoll led the Golden Knights
to a 95-27 mark and four consecutive post-season appearances. He
set school all-time marks for assists (878) and steals (353). An
Honorable Mention All-America and Team MVP in 1992, Driscoll ranks
fourth all-time on the NCAA Division II career assists chart.
Driscoll was inducted into the Saint Rose Athletic Hall of Fame in
the summer of 2007. A Syracuse native, Driscoll played high
school basketball at Bishop Ludden, where he helped the Gaelic
Knights to the 1987 New York State Class A Championship Game.
Driscoll and his wife Missy reside in Syracuse.
