Stan "Buddy" Evans joined the Le Moyne Basketball coaching staff
prior to the 2007-08 season following 35 years of coaching at the
collegiate and scholastic level. Evans was the varsity high school
coach for Rome Free Academy for 22 years, capturing a Section III
title in 1974. An assistant at Hamilton College for 11
seasons, Evans would be apart of eight NCAA Tournament teams,
including the 2002-03 team that made it to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA
Tournament. Prior to joining Le Moyne staff, he spent the two
seasons at SUNY IT.
In addition to coaching the Central squad in the Empire State
Games, Evans was part of the 1985 US Olympic Festival bronze medal
team coaching staff that was led by former St. John's coach Lou
Carnesecca. Evans is also a member of the Rome Sports Hall of Fame.
