Andy Raiola (Brooklyn, N.Y./Xavier) has been named the Northeast-10 Conference men's swimming rookie of the week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.
Raiola, honored by the conference for the first time in his career, registered four top-three finishes to lead the Dolphins to a third-place finish at the Ninth Annual Hartwick College Relays on Saturday afternoon. He placed second in the 3x200-yard IM in 6:19.18 with sophomore
Tim Buff (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) and junior
Ben Verdi (Buffalo, N.Y./St. Joseph's), second in the 3x100-yard butterfly in 2:45.0 with junior
Daniel Tarbrake (Beltsville, Md./Gonzaga College High) and classmate
Travis May (Mount Kisco, N.Y./Fox Lane) and second in the 850-yard crescendo relay in 8:06.54 with Buff, junior
Ronnie Lowe (Middletown, N.Y./Pine Bush) and senior
Ricky Divaccaro (Woodstown, N.J./Woodstown). He capped his performance by teaming on the third-place 800-yard medley relay in 8:23.55 with Verdi, Buff and Lowe.
The Dolphins are back in the pool on Sunday, November 2 at 1:00 p.m. at Northeast-10 Conference foe Bentley University.
