Indianapolis, Ind. - The Le Moyne College volleyball team has been selected to the NCAA Championships for the first time in the program's history, as announced by the NCAA Volleyball Selection Committee on Monday night on NCAA.com.
As the fifth seed, the Dolphins will open regional play on Thursday, December 1 against fourth-seeded American International College. The matchup with the Yellow Jackets will take place in Amherst, N.Y. on the campus of second-seeded Daemen College. On September 27, the Dolphins defeated American International, 3-2, at Fayetteville-Manlius High School.
In the other matchup in the top half of the bracket, top-seeded New York Institute of Technology, the East Coast Conference champion, will take on eighth-seeded Adelphi University. In the bottom half of the bracket, Daemen will take on seventh-seeded Post University and third seeded University of New Haven, the Northeast-10 Conference champion, will square off against sixth-seeded Philadelphia University, the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference champion. The Le Moyne/American International winner and the NYIT/Adelphi winner will meet in one of the semifinals on Friday, December 2, while the Daemen/Post winner and the New Haven/Philadelphia winner will meet in the other semifinal. The East Regional Championship match will take place on Saturday, December 3.
The four national quarterfinal matches, the two semifinal matches and championship match will be hosted by the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference and Sioux Falls Sports Authority and played on December 8-10 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota . The quarterfinals will be played December 8, the semifinals on the 9th and the championship match on the 10th.
