Syracuse, N.Y. – Junior midfielder/forward
Kirsten Colegrove (Athens, Pa./Athens) registered a pair of assists to lead the Le Moyne College women's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Saint Anselm College in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.
After the Dolphins took the first seven shots of the game, they struck for the first goal of the game on their eighth attempt. From near the right sideline, Colegrove crossed the ball in front of the goal. Senior midfielder/forward
Rachel Terry (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) ran into the box and knocked the ball into the right side of the net from 10 yards out at the 22:30 mark for her seventh goal of the season. With the goal, Terry moved into eighth place on the program's career goals list with her 25th, while she moved into ninth place on points list with 57.
Just over 11 minutes later, the Dolphins doubled their lead. Again from the right side, Colegrove crossed the ball to her left, this time to the top of the penalty box. Junior midfielder
Brielle Filtch (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus/Mansfield) collected the ball and fired a shot into the lower left corner of the net for her third tally of the season.
Saint Anselm broke through 4:21 into the second half off a scramble. Corey Murray fired a shot from the left corner of the penalty box, but it was saved by sophomore goalkeeper
Anastasija Cumika (Riga, Latvia/Riga Kengarags/West Florida). However, Caly Farina ran onto the loose ball and knocked a shot just out of Cumika's reach for her second goal of the season.
The Hawks put three shots on goal over the final 31 minutes of the game, but Cumika was able to snare each of the attempts.
Cumika finished the game with five saves to register her third victory of the season. Cassie Quattropani registered four saves in the loss for the Hawks. Le Moyne recorded a 15-10 advantage in shots, including 11-3 in the first half, while taking seven of the game's eight corner kicks.
Le Moyne (3-3-1, 1-2-1 NE-10), which snapped a three-game losing streak, returns to action at American International College on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
