LE MOYNE CRUISES TO NINTH STRAIGHT WIN AGAINST ALBANY; PEREZ HOMERS TWICE IN CONSECUTIVE GAMES.
SYRACUSE, NY-The Le Moyne College Dolphins extend their winning streak to nine consecutive wins, with the 11-7 Albany defeat. Currently the Dolphins are nationally ranked in the top ten for consecutive wins in division one. The Dolphins improve to 20-16 with the win, while the Great Danes fall to 9-29-1.
It was Robby Perez who would lead the Dolphins offensive attack. The senior would hit two home runs in the game for the second game in a row. Perez went 2-3 at the plate, driving in 5 RBIs on the day.
Trailing 0-2, the Great Danes would get their offense going with a Tom Zink double down the left field line. The big hit in the inning came off the bat of Sean Donovan. With one runner on, the junior would drive a Jeff Tardiff offering over the left field wall. The Great Danes would jump on top 3-2 after three innings of play. A monster home run off the bat of Mike Konstanty extended the Great Danes lead 5-2. The Dolphins' Matt Nandin would showcase his exceptional fielding abilities to stop the bleeding, with a full extension web-gem at short stop.
Heading into the six inning, down 5-4, the Dolphins would tack on four more runs with a three run shot off the bat of Robby Perez and a solo shot off the bat of Chris Haynes.
Sophomore Al Ondrako would pick up his first win of the season in relief. The submarine right hander would provide two innings of relief, allowing two runs on one hit. The Dolphins would add two more runs in the seventh, with solo shots off the bats of seniors Phil St. Amant and Corey O'Neill. Sophomore Corey Edmondson would tack on another insurance run in the bottom of the eighth, generating the final run for the Dolphins.
The Dolphins will host Binghamton Wednesday, April 23 at Dick Rockwell Field. First pitch is set for 4 PM.
