DOLPHINS DROP FIRST OF THREE GAME SERIES WITH ORAL ROBERTS UNIVERSITY.
TULSA, OK - Le Moyne College baseball opened with a 10-3 loss to Oral Roberts University in the first of a three-game series. The loss drops Le Moyne to 2-3, while improving Oral Roberts to 5-0 on the season. Matt Nandin continued his offensive dominance as he delivered the first run of the game in the top of the second inning. The Golden Eagles quickly responded tying the game in the bottom half of the second. From there on the Golden Eagles starting pitcher Jerry Sullivan controlled the tempo of the game shutting Le Moyne down offensively. Sullivan went eight innings only allowing two earned runs.
The Golden Eagles slowly began putting the game out of reach by adding four runs in the fifth and six innings. They continued to slowly add runs on the board, while shutting the Dolphins down offensively. Left fielder Brian Van Kirk collected four out of the combined eleven hits for the Golden Eagles. Designated hitter Ryan Groth went 2-2 at the plate driving in an RBI.
The Dolphins ace, Eric Beaulac received his first loss of the season. Owens shut him down after his five innings of work giving up six earned runs. Tom McDermott, Daniel Tunison and Mike Anarumo came in for a combined three innings of relief.
The Dolphins were able to cut into the Golden Eagle lead in the fourth on back-to-back doubles by Phil St. Amant and Matt Nandin closing the gap to within two runs. Le Moyne threatening in the seventh was able to load the bases off Sullivan, but was only able to score one run off the right-handed hurler when Stephen Crawford walked with bases full. Nandin led the way offensively for head coach Steve Owen's ball club. Nandin added his third multi-hit game of the season going 3-4 at the plate with an RBI. St. Amant also contributed a multi-hit game going 2-4 in the designated hitting spot.
The Dolphins look to split the series tomorrow at J.L. Johnson Stadium. Senior RHP T.J. Sheridan (1-0) will take the hill for the Dolphins. Game time is set at 3 PM. Live stats and free video streaming will be available on http://www.orugoldeneagles.com/.
