DOLPHINS SPLIT WITH KANSAS STATE; LE MOYNE TAKES OPENERS BUT FALLS IN EXTRA INNINGS IN SECOND GAME
MANHATTAN, K.S. -The Dolphins starting pitcher, Eric Beaulac, would pick up his first win of the season after defeating Kansas State in the first game of the double header. Matt Nandin, Corey O'Neill, and Chris Edmondson led the way for the Dolphins providing multi-hit games. Freshman Jeff Tardiff would go six innings in the second game, allowing three runs on five hits in the Dolphins extra-inning loss.
Chris Haynes walk in the top of the second inning started things for the Dolphins. It was Chris Edmondson's three run home run to right center off of Ben Hornbeck that gave the Dolphins a 4-0 lead. The Dolphins offensive surge was generated off of three hits and one Wildcats error.
Starting pitcher Eric Beaulac ran into control problems walking the first two wildcats of the inning. A Beaulac wild pitch would generate a Wildcats run. Beaulac settled down and minimized the damage in the bottom half of the second striking out the last Wildcat he face. He would continue to strike out the next two Wildcats in the bottom of the third inning before giving up a solo home run to Drew Biery. Justin Bloxom would single to right field to get things started again. Nate Tenbrick would hit a seeing-eye single to bring in the second and last Wildcats run of the game making it a 4-3 Dolphins lead.
Sean Paino's RBI single and Stephen Crawford's SF to right field would expand the Dolphins lead 6-3. The Dolphins would tack on two more runs in the top of the ninth inning expanding the lead to 8-3. Luke Nellis would relieve Beaulac in the six inning to close out the rest of the game. Nellis threw 2.1 innings, allowing zero runs on one hit. Beaulac was awarded the win (1-1), allowing three earned runs on three hits.

Edmondson would also come up to the plate with bases loaded later in the top of the ninth inning. Edmondson would double off of Hoge's 3-1 offering down the right field line scoring another two Dolphins. The Dolphins would push their lead to 10-4 going into the bottom of the ninth.
The Dolphins would bring in sophomore Al Ondrako to close the game. Ondrako would quickly run into trouble loading the bases of off two bean balls and a walk. Brett Scott would slap Ondrako's offering to left field scoring two Wildcats. The Wildcats would close the gap to 10-6. Ondrako would plunk Dane Yelovich to re-load the bases. Owens would have to resort to freshman Mike Anarumo, after pulling Ondrako off the hill. A walk and a two RBI single by Jordan Cruz would bring the game to 10-9 Dolphins. Jason King would deliver the game-tying run with his SF to centerfield.
Anarumo would stay in and throw a 1-2-3 ininning in the bottom of the tenth. The Dolphins would go down 1-2-3 in the top of the eleventh inning.
