DOLPHINS SPLIT CANISIUS IN HOME OPENER.

SYRACUSE, NY -The Le Moyne Dolphins split today's double header against Canisius, wining 3-1 in the first game, and losing 5-1 in the second game. The Dolphins fall to 8-11 overall, while sending the Golden Griffins to 12-2. In the first game, it was Eric Beaulac picking up his second win of the season. Tardiff came in the seventh to pick up the save. The second game featured Sophomore Luke Nellis, who picked up the loss in his first start of the season.

The Dolphins scattered five hits on three runs in the first game of the double header. It was Stephen Crawford who started the Dolphins off in the bottom of the third delivering an RBI double to right center. With two outs, Corey O'Neil would drive in Crawford from second putting the Dolphins in front 2-0.

The Dolphins would tack on one more run expanding the Dolphins lead 3-0 in the fourth. The Golden Griffins would score their only run off of an Alec Cabello RBI groundout to third base.

Beualac pitched an impressive six innings allowing one run on three hits. Tardiff picked up his first save of the year relieving Beaulac in the seventh.

The Dolphins snapped their sixteen game winning streak against the Golden Griffins with a 5-1 loss in the second game. This streak goes all the way back to the 2002 season. The Dolphins failed to score runs late in the game. Crawford extended his eleven game hitting streak to thirteen games in the double header spilt. Junior Mike Brown led the way for the Dolphins at the plate providing three hits on three at bats. Catcher Phil St. Amant and designated hitter Chris Murphy also contributed with multi-hit games.

It was M. Brown who started things off in the first for the Dolphins driving a double down the left field line. St. Amant singled to right center driving in M. Brown, and giving the Dolphins a 1-0 lead.  In the fourth inning the Golden Griffins tied the game at one with a Kevin Mailloux home run to left center off of Nellis. Nellis threw well despite running into trouble in the six inning.

The Golden Griffins poured on four runs in the sixth inning expanding the lead 5-1. Brandon Otto came in for relief after the Golden Griffins started the inning with four consecutive hits in a row. Otto would quickly force Silverman to ground into a 6-4-3 double play. Cabello would single off of Otto for his only charged run of the game. Through one inning of work, Otto allowed one run striking out one.

The Dolphins return back to Rockwell Field tomorrow to wrap up the three game series with Canisius. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
