TARDIFF’S STRONG PERFORMANCE ON THE MOUND DEALS
FAIRFIELD A 7-2 DEFEAT.
FAIRFIELD, CT – Le Moyne right-hander Jeff Tardiff guided the
Dolphins to a 7-2 victory on Sunday at Alumni Field. Tardiff
pitched six innings, holding the Stags to one earned run and three
hits. With the win, the Dolphins improve to 24-20 on the season.
Fairfield drops to 14-30.
The Dolphins were on the board in the top of the first as Steve
Crawford led of the game with a single to left field. Chris
Edmondson pushed him across connecting for his 10th home run of the
season to give the Dolphins a 2-0 advantage
Following a walk to Pat Hoban, Fairfield’s Tucker Nathans run
scoring double right center cut the Dolphins’ lead to 2-1. Le
Moyne responded with an RBI double by Aaron DiFruscio pushing the
lead back to two runs.
The Dolphins put the game out of reach in the sixth inning as Chris
Murphy connected for his second home run in as many days to plate
two runs. Le Moyne tacked on one more with an RBI single by
Edmondson.
Sophomore Dan Tunison locked up the Fairfield attack over the final
three innings to earn his first career save. Tunison pitched three
innings allowing only one hit.
Senior Steve Crawford paced the 12-hit attack with a 3-for-5 effort
with two runs scored. Robby Perez, Chris Haynes and Edmondson each
added two hits.
Le Moyne returns to Dick Rockwell Field for their final home series
of the year on Saturday, May 10th and Sunday May 11th.
