BEAULAC TOSSES NO-HITTER AS DOLPHINS TAKE TWO FROM RIDER

SYRACUSE, NY – Junior Eric Beaulac tossed the program’s fifth individual no-hitter as the Dolphins blanked Rider 1-0 in game one of a doubleheader. In game two, Le Moyne pushed across eight runs in the bottom of the sixth in taking the second game 8-3. The Dolphins improve to 27-20 on the season as Rider falls to 25-23.

Following a fourth inning highlight reel catch by Sean Paino as the center fielder robbed David Hayes of a home run by pulling a ball back from over the outfield wall, the Dolphins struck for the first run of the game on an RBI groundout by Cory O’Neill.

Beaulac cruised through nine innings striking out nine Broncs and using clutch defense by the Dolphins to pitch the program’s first no-hitter since April 8, 2006 (T.J. Sheridan vs. Manhattan). The right-hander earned his eighth win of the season against two defeats. Rider’s Mike Petrowski was the tough luck loser pitching eight innings, holding the Dolphins to four hits and one run.

Following five shutout innings by Le Moyne’s Luke Nellis and Rider’s Jimmer Kennedy, the Broncs struck for three runs in the top half of the sixth, highlighted by Steve Galella’s two-out, two RBI single to right center field.

In the bottom of the sixth, Aaron DiFruscio and Steve Crawford led off with singles. Matt Nandin closed the gap to 3-2 with a two-RBI single to centerfield. Chris Edmondson’s 12th home run of the season to right center field gave the Dolphins a 4-3 lead. The Dolphins pushed the lead to 8-3 plating runs on singles by Chris Haynes, Sean Paino, Chris Murphy and Steve Crawford.

Brandon Otto earned the win in relief of Luke Nellis to improve his record to 3-2 on the season.

Le Moyne wraps up their series with Rider on Sunday, May 11th as they host the Broncs at noon.
