LE MOYNE DUO EARN TOP HONORS AMONGST DIVISION I INDEPENDENTS; THREE OTHER DOLPHINS EARN ALL-INDEPENDENT HONORS.

SYRACUSE, NY – Sophomore Chris Edmondson (Johnson City, NY) was named as the Division I Independent Baseball Player of the Year and junior pitcher Eric Beaulac (Troy, NY) was named the Pitcher of the Year for 2008 as voted on by both head coaches and sports information directors at Independent colleges and universities. Additionally, junior Matt Nandin (North Syracuse, NY), Phil St. Amant (Brockport, NY) and Corey O’Neill (Pittsford, NY) earned All-Independent team honors.

Chris Edmondson, a sophomore from Johnson City, New York hit .367 with 14 home runs, 22 doubles and 64 RBI’s for the Dolphins in ’08. The left-handed slugger hit for an impressive .745 slugging percentage that ranks 24th in the nation in leading Le Moyne to a 33-21 record. He led all Independent players in slugging percentage, RBI, doubles, triples and total bases as he tied the school record with 14 home runs.

Eric Beaulac, a junior right-hander from Troy, New York led the Dolphins with a 9-2 record with a 2.83 ERA in 13 starts on the mound. Beaulac struck out a school-record 113 batters in 92.1 innings pitched and currently ranks fifth in the nation in hits per nine innings and seventh in strikeouts. He led all Independent pitchers in ERA, strikeouts and opposing batting average. Additionally, he become one of only five pitchers in Le Moyne history to toss a no-hitter has he blanked Rider on May 10th.

Matt Nandin, a junior from North Syracuse, New York moved to shortstop from second base in 2008. Nandin hit for a .341 batting average with 13 doubles, 34 RBI in earning first team honors.

Phil St. Amant, a senior catcher from Brockport, New York earned first team honors as the right-handed slugger hit .343 with seven home runs, 18 doubles and 40 RBI.

Corey O’Neill, a senior from Pittsford, New York earned second team honors at first base with a .330 batting average, 15 doubles, 48 RBI and was second on the club with 11 home runs.

The Dolphins wrapped up the 2008 campaign with a 33-21 record. This marks the 11th consecutive winning season and the seventh time in the last nine seasons under head coach Steve Owens the team has won at least 30 games in a season.
