BSB: DOLPHINS EDGED BY GEORGIA SOUTHERN 5-3; EDMONDSON, PAINO & HAYNES HOMER.

STATESBORO, GA - Georgia Southern right-hander Andy Moye pitched eight strong innings as the Eagles topped Le Moyne 5-3 in the second day of the Holiday Inn Eagle Invitational. The win improved Georgia Southern to 10-1 and drops Le Moyne to 2-5 on the season.

The Dolphins got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the second inning when junior centerfielder Sean Paino (Wappinger Falls, NY / Roy C. Ketcham) delivered his first homerun of the season to spot Le Moyne a 1-0 advantage.  The Eagles rallied to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning and scratched for at least one run in the next four at bats to jump out to a 5-1 advantage after five innings.

Pre-season All-American Chris Edmondson (Johnson City, NY / Johnson City) recorded his first homerun of the season in the top half of the six to pull the Dolphins within three at 5-2.  With the help from freshman Brett Bostford's (Baldwinsville, NY / C.W. Baker) homerun-saving catch in the seventh inning, the duo of Brandon Otto (Cicero, NY / CNS) and Tom McDermott (Amsterdam, NY / Amsterdam) held the Eagles scoreless over three-plus innings of relief.

Chris Haynes' (Manlius, NY / Fayetteville-Manlius) lead-off homerun to start the top of the ninth inning moved the Dolphins within striking distance at 5-3. Eagles closer Charles Matthews closed the door on Le Moyne striking out the next three batters to seal the victory.

The Dolphins wrap up their three-game set at the Holiday Inn Eagle Invitational on Sunday as they take on Indiana University at 11:00 AM
