LE MOYNE GREEN WINS MIKE BELLO INVITATIONAL, HAMILTON'S MIKE HAYES WINS PLAYOFF OVER LE MOYNE'S TIM MARTINS FOR INDIVIDUAL CROWN
MARCELLUS, N.Y. - Le Moyne's Green Team landed four golfers among the top nine to capture the team title at the Mike Bello Invitational. Hamilton's Mike Hayes bested Le Moyne freshman Tim Martins (Cortland, N.Y.) in a playoff to earn the individual title at the 6,700 yard Par 72 Links at Sunset Ridge.
Le Moyne's Green team combined for a six-over par 294. Senior Dan McCarthy (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), the winner of the Colgate Fall Invitational over the weekend and last year's co-medalist, shot an even-par 72 to finish one shot back. Mark Sierotnik was three-over and Joe Tesori (DeWitt, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) carded a 76 to land Le Moyne its first sub-300 team score since racing out to a 293 in the opening round of the 2005 Northeast-10 Championship also at the Links at Sunset Ridge.
Le Moyne travels to Riverhead, N.Y. for the Dowling Invitational on Sunday and Monday.
