GOLF: MARTINS LEADS DOLPHINS TO 13TH PLACE FINISH AT NCAA EAST/ATLANTIC REGIONAL


Daniels, W. Va. - Junior Tim Martins (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) finished in a tie for 17th place to lead the Le Moyne College golf team to a tie for 13th place at the three-day NCAA Division II East/Atlantic Regional held at the 7,084-yard, par 72 Cobb Course at The Resort at Glade Springs Monday through Wednesday. The Dolphins, who earned an automatic bid after winning the Northeast-10 Conference tournament in September, finished the tournament with a score of 961 on rounds of 317, 328 and 316.

Martins, who finished the tournament at 16-over par with a final tally of 232, opened the event with a five-over par 77, including a pair of birdies. On the second day, Martins posted two more birdies en route to a 79 to leave him in a tie for 20th through 36 holes. Martins capped the tournament by shooting 76, which included birdies on the sixth and 18th holes.

Sophomore Andrew Lloyd (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) carded a 239 over the three days to tie for 37th. Lloyd registered totals of 78 on Monday, 84 on Tuesday and a 77 in the final round. Freshman Kevin Jackson (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango), the Northeast-10 Conference Player and Freshman of the Year, finished the tournament tied for 59th with a score of 243. Jackson posted a round of 80 on the first day, 82 on day two and closed out tournament with an 81. Freshmen Anthony Viskovich (Massena, N.Y./Massena) and Chris Sova (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) each shot a 250 to tie for 85t. Viskovich recorded rounds of 82, 86 and 82, while Sova had scores of 85, 83 and 82.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania posted the top score at the Regional with a final total of 915. The Crimson Hawks registered a tournament-best score of 298 on the final day to come-from-behind and claim the top team honors. Concord University's Emmanuel Charmat, who started the final round trailing by one shot, carded a 77 on Wednesday to finish the tournament in first place with a 54-hole score of 224.
