LE MOYNE MEN'S BASKETBALL ANNOUNCES 2009-10 SCHEDULE

Syracuse, N.Y. - Le Moyne College Director of Athletics Matt Bassett and head coach Steve Evans announced the men's basketball schedule on Monday, Oct. 12. The Dolphins will play 28 regular season games, including a 22-game conference schedule, and one exhibition contest.

The Dolphins, who went 20-11 and advanced to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship game last year, will open their 62nd season with an exhibition contest against Syracuse University on Tuesday, November 3 in the Carrier Dome. The game with Syracuse will mark the fifth match-up against the Orange in the last six seasons, including last year's regular-season contest.

Le Moyne opens the 2009-10 regular season on Sunday, November 15 at Caldwell at 2:00 p.m. Three days later, the Dolphins play their home opener against Northeast-10 Conference-foe Southern Connecticut State at 7:30. Le Moyne also hosts conference members American International, Assumption, St. Anselm, Merrimack, Bentley, Franklin Pierce, Adelphi, New Haven, Pace and Saint Rose. The Dolphins travel to New Haven, Pace, Saint Rose, Adelphi, Saint Michael's, Southern New Hampshire, UMass Lowell, Stonehill, Southern Connecticut State, American International and Assumption in conference action. Bentley, UMass Lowell, Assumption, Stonehill and Merrimack each appeared in the NCAA Tournament last season, with Bentley advancing to the East Regional final.

The highlight of the non-conference schedule is a match-up with Division I member Saint Bonaventure of the Atlantic-10 Conference. The Dolphins will travel to Olean, N.Y. for a 7:00 p.m. meeting with the Bonnies on Thursday, Dec. 10. The Bonnies hold a 13-0 lead in the all-time series, but the two schools have not played since 1958.

In other non-conference action, the Dolphins will host Mansfield on Dec. 12 and Goldey-Beacom on Dec. 19; while traveling to Queens on Nov. 21 for the ECC/Northeast-10 Conference Challenge and St. Thomas Aquinas on Dec. 21.

Le Moyne, led by 10th-year head coach Evans, returns four starters from last year's squad that won 13 of its final 15 games. Second Team Preseason All-American Laurence Ekperigin (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Walter Panas) averaged 18.3 points and 11.4 rebounds as a junior en route to being named the Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year. Sophomore guard Chris Johnson (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst) scored 13.8 points per game and hit a freshman-record 99 three-pointers as the Dolphins' top reserve. Graduate student guard Damani Corbin (Brooklyn, N.Y./Frederick Douglass) enters his final season eighth on the program's all-time assists chart with 355, while also scoring 725 points in 88 career games. Junior Kevin Roth (Lake View, N.Y./St. Francis) joins Ekperigin to form a formidable frontcourt. As a starter in 30 games last season, Roth scored 9.6 points and 6.6 rebounds per contest.
