THREE MORE NCAA BANNERS WILL BE UNVEILED SATURDAY

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Le Moyne College will honor its three NCAA tournament teams from the 2006 calendar year with a banner unveiling ceremony at halftime of Saturday's women's basketball game against UMass Lowell. The 2005-06 men's golf, 2006 men's lacrosse and 2006 softball teams will be on hand for a celebration at approximately 2:30 p.m.

For the fifth consecutive season, the Le Moyne College men's golf team was chosen for the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional. As part of the 2005-06 golf season, Le Moyne finished second at the Northeast-10 Conference Championship and Joe Tesori (DeWitt, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) captured the individual medalist honor at that tournament. Dan McCarthy (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) won the final three tournaments of the regular season.Le Moyne finished eighth at the regional. McCarthy led the Dolphins with an eighth-place individual finish.

Also for the fifth consecutive season, the Le Moyne College men's lacrosse team was chosen for the NCAA Division II tournament. Le Moyne (18-0), ranked No. 1 from wire-to-wire in 2006, capped its second unbeaten season in three years with a 12-5 win over Dowling in the NCAA Division II National Championship game in front of 23,990 at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia. The Dolphins also won their sixth consecutive Northeast-10 Conference Championship and will take a 70-game Northeast-10 Conference regular season and 60-game regular season winning streak into the 2007 season. Eight Dolphins received All-America accolades, including the nation's top goalkeeper Jared Corcoran (Concord, N.H./Concord), the top midfielder Matt Cassalia (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee) and the nation's top defender Travis Tarr (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn).

In four of its five trips to the NCAA tournament, the Le Moyne College softball team has captured a regional championship. In 2006, the Dolphins battled a season full of injuries and a tournament full of inclement weather to win their fourth regional championship and cement their position as the premiere NCAA Division II program in the Northeast. Seventh-seeded Le Moyne upset top-seeded LIU-C.W. Post 5-4 in the final game of the Northeast Regional at Bryant University. Le Moyne was determined the champion of the eight-team regional because after five days of action at the rain-shortened tournament, the Dolphins were the only remaining team without a loss. Tournament Most Valuable Player Emma Murphy (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) went 5-for-9 with three home runs, six RBI and five runs to earn the MVP award at the tournament. The Dolphins completed their season at 32-21 and were ranked ninth in the final national poll.

Saturday's Northeast-10 Conference basketball doubleheader will be televised live throughout Central and Northern New York on Time Warner Sports Channel 26.

General admission tickets ($4 adults, $2 students/senior citizens) for Saturday's game will be available at the door. Le Moyne College students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with proper identification.
