MLAX: MICHAEL CARBOINE EARNS ELITE 88 AWARD BOASTING THE HIGHEST GPA IN THIS WEEKEND’S CHAMPIONSHIPS
BALTIMORE, MD – Le Moyne College sophomore Michael
Carboine (Homer, NY / Homer) claimed the inaugural Elite
88 Award in Division II men’s lacrosse announced Friday
evening at the pre-championship banquet hosted by the NCAA.
Carboine is the second Le Moyne student-athlete to receive
this award this year following Dan St. Jacques (Men’s Soccer) this
fall.
Carboine boasts a grade point average of 3.887 majoring in
Biology. On the field, he is a member of a defensive unit ranked
third in the nation in goals against average (5.85). This spring,
Carboine was named a Le Moyne College Scholar-Athlete.
Beginning with the 2009-10 championships season, the NCAA has
instituted an academic recognition award program which is entitled
the Elite 88. The award is presented to the student-athlete with
the highest cumulative grade point average competing at the finals
site for each of the NCAA's 88 championships.
The Le Moyne College men’s lacrosse team will appear in
their fifth consecutive national championship game on Sunday when
they face C.W. Post at M&T Bank Stadium at 3:00 PM.
