MIKE MCDONALD ’08 EARNS DIVISION II PLAYER OF THE YEAR HONORS WITH LAXIE AWARD FROM INSIDE LACROSSE.

Former Le Moyne men’s lacrosse standout Mike McDonald was awarded the inaugural ‘Laxie Award’ from Inside Lacrosse as the 2008 Division II Player of the Year. Awards were presented in a number of categories and were determined by fans through online polling. A complete list of winners is available on www.insidelacrosse.com.

In 2008, McDonald established himself as one of the premier attackmen in the country picking up the Enners Award as the most outstanding player in division II. Additionally, he was named the top attackmen for the second consecutive season by being awarded the Turnbull Award.

Twice the Most Outstanding Player of the Division II National Championship, the senior from Latham, N.Y. has picked up All-American honors every year of his career. He earned an honorable mention after his freshman season and his been a first team member in every year since. McDonald’s lacrosse resume is filled with numerous distinctions from the Northeast-10 Conference, as well. He earned Rookie of the Year honors in his first year on the Heights and has been a member of the All-Northeast-10 Conference First Team in each of his four seasons. This season, he became only the third Dolphin to collect Northeast-10 Conference Player of the Year honors.

McDonald was the first Dolphin drafted in the MLL Collegiate Draft this spring with his selection by the Los Angeles Riptide in the 3rd round (24th pick overall).

Statistically, McDonald is a member of an elite group of Le Moyne men’s lacrosse players to score 200 points in a career. He ranks second on the college’s all-time points list (227), second on its all-time goals list (137) and fourth on its all-time assists list (90). In 2008, he paced Le Moyne in points (59) and assists (28). And the senior’s numbers in the classroom helped him earn Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic honors three times during his career.
