MATT PECHEONE NAMED NE-10 MEN'S SOCCER PLAYER OF THE WEEK
South Easton, Mass. - Le Moyne senior Matt Pecheone (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) has been honored as the Northeast-10 Conference men's soccer player of the week, as announced by the conference office on Monday, Sept. 8.
Pecheone, an all-conference and all-region selection as a junior, was named conference player of the week after registering seven points in the Dolphins' 2-0 week. Pecheone opened the week with an unassisted goal in Le Moyne's 2-1 victory at #5 Dominican on Wednesday, Sept. 3. Pecheone scored at the 14:38 mark of the first half to give the Dolphins a 1-0 lead.
Pecheone capped the week with two goals and an assist in a 3-1 win against Stonehill on Saturday, Sept. 6. His first goal gave the Dolphins a 1-0 lead at the 23:11 mark as chipped the ball over the keeper from the left of the goal. Just over 10 minutes later, he earned an assist after his corner kick was headed into the goal. Midway through the second half, Pecheone notched his fourth goal of the season as he slotted a rebound inside the left post.
Le Moyne (3-0-1, NE-10 1-0) return to action on Tuesday in Rindge, N.H. against defending national champion Franklin Pierce at 3:30 p.m.
