MSOC: #5 SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE TOPS #14 LE MOYNE, 3-0, IN BATTLE OF RANKED TEAMS

Manchester, N.H. - Fifth-ranked Southern New Hampshire scored three goals in a nine minute span late in the second half to defeat the 14th-ranked Le Moyne College men's soccer team, 3-0, in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday at Larkin Field.

The two squads, ranked first and second in the conference standings entering the day, played a scoreless first half. The Penman posted a 6-4 advantage in shots in the opening 45 minutes, while Le Moyne held a 2-1 edge in corner kicks.

SNHU got on the board at the 72:01 mark on an own goal by the Dolphins as a failed header back to junior goalkeeper Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) sailed into the net. Less than seven minutes later, the Penman doubled their lead when Adrian Schippers spun around a Le Moyne defender to score off an assist from Kevin Woods. SNHU tacked on an insurance goal just over one minute later as Daniel Hernandez beat White with a one-timer off a long pass from Rob Lucas.

The Penman, unbeaten in their last 11 games, registered a 16-5 advantage in shots, including 10-1 in the second half, while the Dolphins edged the Penman in corner kicks, 5-4. White, who allowed three goals in a contest for the first time this season, posted four saves. Sean Lambert recorded his seventh shutout of the season without having to record a save.

Le Moyne (9-3-2, NE-10 6-3-1), which had its six-game unbeaten streak snapped, returns to action on Tuesday at American International at 4:00 p.m.
