SENIORS LEAD DOLPHINS TO 3-0 VICTORY OVER ST.
ANSELM
SYRACUSE, NY – Senior Brandon Morse (Lima,
Ohio/Shawnee) converted on two second half penalty kicks
and Matt Pecheone (New Hartford, N.Y./New
Hartford) added an insurance goal as the Dolphins defeated
St. Anselm 3-0. The Dolphins improved their mark to 11-3-2 on the
year, 8-3-1 in the NE-10. The Hawks drop to 6-8-1, 4-5-1 in
conference play.
The Dolphins got on the board in the second period following an
intentional handball by St. Anselm’s Dave Hugel just outside
the goal on a header from Morse. The penalty gave the senior
midfielder a penalty kick which he buried in the back of the
net.
Le Moyne would add another goal four minutes later as freshman
Jessie Carr (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) drew a
penalty inside the goalie box for a penalty kick. Morse stepped up
and converted on his second penalty kick of the day to push the
Dolphin lead to 2-0.
Matt Pecheone added Le Moyne’s third and final goal of the
game on an assist from Carr. Pecheone took the ball down the left
side of the field and scored from 16 yards out, beating the goalie
to the lower-right corner.
Goalie Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland)
recorded four saves on the day as he registered his sixth shutout
of the season.
The game also marked the final home game for four seniors,
Mike Desiderio (Cicero, N.Y./ Bishop Grimes), Bennett
Grubbs (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette), Morse and
Pecheone.
The Dolphins return to action on Tuesday, October 21st as they
travel to St. Rose to wrap up their NE-10 Conference schedule.
