PECHEONE AND LAWLOR LEAD NO. 20 LE MOYNE PAST SAINT ROSE, 2-0, IN NE-10 FINALE

Albany, N.Y. - Senior Matt Pecheone (New Hartford, N.Y./New Hartford) and sophomore Sean Lawlor (Kirkham, Preston/Baines School) each scored a second-half goal to lead the 20th-ranked Le Moyne College men's soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Saint Rose in Northeast-10 Conference action on Tuesday at the Albany Academies. With the win, the Dolphins clinched a home game in the opening-round of the Northeast-10 Conference tournament on Sunday, Nov. 2.

Following a back-and-forth first half, the two squads went into intermission deadlocked at zero. The Dolphins registered eights shots in the opening 45 minutes, while the Golden Knights recorded five.

Pecheone, the conference's reigning co-player of the week, broke the scoreless tie in the 78th minute of the contest with his team-high tenth goal of the season. Pecheone took a cross from the left side from Angelo Reina (Frankfurt, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) and deposited his shot from 12 yards out into the lower right corner.

Less than six minutes later, Lawlor tacked on an insurance goal with his third tally of the season. Following a corner kick, Lawlor hooked a shot from the left side of the penalty box into the side netting of the goal at the 83:38 mark of the match.

The Dolphins out-shot their hosts 14-9 in the contest, while also registering a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks. Junior Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland), the current conference goalkeeper of the week, posted three saves to post his second consecutive shutout and seventh of the season. Patrik Ohlsson made one save in between the pipes for the Golden Knights.

Le Moyne (12-3-2, NE-10 9-3-1), ranked 20th in the latest NSCAA/adidas® National rankings and third in the East Regional rankings, returns to action on Saturday at 25th-ranked Dowling at 7:00 p.m. to close out the regular season.
