MSOC: SCARAVILLO NETS FIRST CAREER GOAL AS #23 LE MOYNE DOWNS SAINT ANSELM, 2-0

Syracuse, N.Y. - Freshman midfielder Vince Scaravillo (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) scored his first career goal to lead the 23rd-ranked Le Moyne College men's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Saint Anselm on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex.

Scaravillo, who entered the game in the 23rd minute, took a pass from the left side of the field and headed the ball inside the near post from just inside the goal box at the 35:02 mark of the opening half. Junior forward Angelo Reina (Frankfort, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) broke free down the left sideline and served the ball into the box to earn the assist. Neither team was able to register a shot over the final minutes of the half as Le Moyne took a 1-0 lead into the intermission.

In the opening minutes of the second half, each goalkeeper made a save from point-blank range. Le Moyne senior Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) stopped a shot by Tyler Sangster just 1:12 into the half, while John Corridan turned aside a header attempt by Reina on the other end of the field two and one-half minutes later. Freshman forward Cameron Green (University Heights, Ohio/St. Ignatius) registered the best scoring chance of the opening 20 minutes of the second half for the Dolphins, but his shot from the left side went just wide of the right goal post. Junior midfielder Zach Kuzemka (Chenango Forks, N.Y./Chenango Forks/Fairfield), who scored his first goal as a Dolphin on Wednesday, doubled Le Moyne's lead with one minute remaining as he collected a loose ball and broke free down the right side of the field before drilling a shot by Corridan into the goal.

White made two saves in registering his second consecutive shutout and the 20th of his career. With the 20 shutouts, White sets a new program record, eclipsing the previous record held by Mike Williams '96 and Tim Mann '05. Corridan turned away two shots in the losing effort. The Dolphins held a 13-8 advantage in shots, while Saint Anselm recorded a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.

Le Moyne (5-1-1, NE-10 2-1) which is unbeaten at home over its last 13 games, returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 23 against Franklin Pierce at 4:00 p.m. The Ravens have ended the season for the Dolphins in the NCAA Tournament each of the past two years.
