MSOC: REINA HAS HAND IN BOTH GOALS AS #20 LE MOYNE DOWNS MERRIMACK, 2-1

North Andover, Mass. - Junior forward Angelo Reina (Frankfort, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) scored a goal and dished out an assist for the Le Moyne College men's soccer team to lead the Dolphins to a 2-1 win at Merrimack in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday evening at Warrior Field.

Reina, the second-leading scorer in the Northeast-10 Conference, got the Dolphins on the scoreboard with just over 15 minutes remaining in the first half. Reina's unassisted tally at the 29:38 mark was his 12th of the season. After Le Moyne held a 6-4 advantage in shots in the first 30 minutes, the Warriors recorded a 4-2 edge in the final third of the half, but could not net the tying goal.

Less than one minute into the second stanza, the Dolphins doubled their lead. Sophomore midfielder Jesse Carr (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) took a feed from Reina and scored at the 54-second mark for his second goal of the season. After midfielder Marcus Debottis (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) had his shot saved by Merrimack goalkeeper Doug Carvalho at the 50:24 mark, the Dolphins would not get off another shot the remainder of the contest, while the Warriors recorded 12. Following a red card in the 85th minute forced the Dolphins to play a man down, the Warriors capitalized on their final shot of the evening. Sophomore Robbie Sabadoz, who leads the conference in goals, registered his 15th goal of the season with just 2:30 remaining to cut Le Moyne's lead in half. Merrimack had a corner kick in the final minute of action, but was unable to get a shot off.

Merrimack registered a 20-10 advantage in shots in the contest and held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks. Senior goalkeeper Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) made three saves between the pipes for the Dolphins, while Carvalho turned away three Le Moyne shots. With his second save of the contest, White became the fifth Dolphin goalkeeper to eclipse 300 career saves. Reina's three points in the game moves him to eighth place in the program's history in points (68) and goals scored (29).

Le Moyne (11-2-2, NE-10 8-2-1), which clinched a berth in the Northeast-10 playoffs with the victory and American International's loss earlier in the day, plays its final non-conference match of the season on Tuesday, Oct. 20 against Bloomfield at 4:00 p.m.
