MSOC: #24 DOLPHINS RALLY FOR 2-1 VICTORY OVER STONEHILL IN HOME FINALE

Syracuse, N.Y. - Senior back Davide DiPaola (Rochester, N.Y./Greece-Athena/Niagara) headed in the game-winner for the second consecutive game to give the Le Moyne College men's soccer team a 2-1 win over Stonehill in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday afternoon at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex.

Le Moyne, which honored DiPaola and goalkeeper Steve White (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) prior to the contest for their dedication to the program, controlled play in the first half, but went into the intermission trailing 1-0. Michael Bridges came off the bench for the Skyhawks and scored at the 37-minute mark with a scissor-kick at the left post off a cross along the endline by Ross McWilliams.

Just over four minutes into the second half, the Dolphins evened the score at one apiece. Sophomore midfielder Jesse Carr (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) took a pass from junior forward Angelo Reina (Frankfort, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) in the middle of the and dribbled toward the goal. After weaving through three defenders, Carr slotted a pass to his right to sophomore midfielder Greg Pardo (O'Fallen, Mo./Duchesne), who recorded his first career goal with a shot into the lower left corner of the goal at the 49:10 mark.

White kept the score tied in the 75th minute with a diving save to his right on a shot by Victor Regis from 10 yards out. Following a Stonehill foul with 12:04 remaining in regulation, Carr served the free kick from just outside the penalty box into the goal box. DiPaola dove in front of the goalkeeper and headed the ball into the back of the net for his fourth career goal. The Dolphins kept the pressure on the Skyhawks, but were unable to add an insurance goal. Reina had a shot from the left side of the penalty box, but his shot went just wide of the far right post.

Le Moyne posted a 13-8 advantage in shots, including 8-5 in the second half, while each team registered three corner kicks. White finished the contest with three saves in recording his 47th career victory. Brandon McFarlane turned away five shots for the Skyhawks.
