MSOC: #20 LE MOYNE TO HOST FRANKLIN PIERCE ON WEDNESDAY IN NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE SEMIFINALS

Syracuse, N.Y. - The 20th nationally-ranked Le Moyne College men's soccer team will host Franklin Pierce University on Wednesday afternoon in the Northeast-10 Conference Championship semifinals at 1:00 p.m. at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex.

The Dolphins (15-2-2), the tournament's second seed, advanced to the semifinals with a 1-0 win over Bentley University on Sunday afternoon. Sophomore midfielder Jesse Carr (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) scored off a free kick from 25 yards out in the 78th minute  for the game-winning goal. The Ravens, the third seed in the tournament, moved on in the Championship by outscoring Assumption, 4-2, in a penalty kick shootout after the two teams played to a scoreless draw.

Earlier in the season, the Dolphins rallied for a 2-1 victory over the Ravens at home. After falling behind 1-0 in the 30th minute on September 23, Le Moyne scored a pair of goals in the second half to beat the Ravens in the regular season for the first time since 2004. Junior  midfielder Zach Kuzemka (Chenango Forks, N.Y./Chenango Forks/Fairfield) evened the score at one apiece in the 68th minute by burying a left-footed shot into the top left corner of the goal from 25 yards out. Just over 10 minutes later, sophomore midfielder Marcus Debottis (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) scored his first career goal off a feed from Northeast-10 Conference First Team selection Angelo Reina (Frankfort, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame).

The winner of Wednesday's match will host the Championship game on Saturday, Nov. 7 against either Southern Connecticut State or Saint Anselm. Fourth-seeded Southern Connecticut advanced to the semifinals with a 2-1 win over fifth-seeded Merrimack, while eighth-seeded Saint Anselm upset #8 nationally-ranked and first-seeded Southern New Hampshire, 1-0. Saint Anselm's win marks the first time under the current tournament format (since 2000) that the eighth seed has defeated the top-seeded team.
