DOLPHINS UPENDED BY NEW YORK TECH, 1-0, ON THE ROAD

Old Westbury, N.Y. – Vinny Cacavale scored midway through the opening half to lead New York Tech to a 1-0 win over the Le Moyne College men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at President's Stadium.

Following a save by Le Moyne sophomore goalkeeper Matthew Silva (Brampton, Ontario/St. Augustine) at the 23:04 mark, Trevor Bates ended up with the ball after the Bears gained possession. Bates then fed the ball up the middle of the field to Cacavale, who beat Silva to the left side of the goal with 21:35 remaining in the first half.

In the second half, each team registered seven shots, but neither team was able to find the back of the net. Senior midfielder Jesse Carr (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles) forced New York Tech goalkeeper Liam Waddy to make a save with just under 15 minutes left, while Waddy turned away a shot by senior back Bryce Martin (Cazenovia, N.Y./Chittenango) with 7:32 remaining.

Silva finished the game with four saves in net, while Waddy recorded three saves in posting the shutout. New York Tech registered a 13-9 advantage in shots, while Le Moyne had a 5-3 edge in corner kicks.

Le Moyne (1-2-1), which beat New York Tech, 3-0, to open the year last season, opens Northeast-10 Conference play on Tuesday at American International at 7:00 p.m.
