LESHER WINS NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP & CHIDSEY NAMED HONORABLE MENTION ALL-AMERICA AT 2008 NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

COLUMBIA, MO - The 2008 NCAA Divison II Swimming & Diving Championships was highlighted by All-American senior Alison Lesher who captured Le Moyne's first ever individual national championship in the 200 butterfly. Additionally, junior Ricky Chidsey earned honorable mention All-America honors in the 100 and 200 backstroke.

DAY ONE:
Senior Alison Lesher earned All-American honors by finished in seventh place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:23.48, a time that shattered the college and association record. Southern Connecticut State's Kristen Frost, the only swimmer in Division II to post a time of under 10 minutes in the 1,000-yard freestyle, did again Wednesday to break the national record and post an easy win in the event.  Frost posted a time of 9:50.49 - over five seconds below the previous standard - to win the event by 11 seconds over Truman State's Molly Polette.

DAY TWO:
On day two of the Division II Swimming & Diving Championships, Alison Lesher was a scratch in the 400 IM and junior Ricky Chidsey placed 24th in the 100 yard butterfly preliminary, falling just short of qualify for the night's finals. Fellow senior Ryan Lowrie joined Chidsey in the event and placed 28th in the prelims.

DAY THREE:
Day three of the NCAA Division II Championships was a historic one for Le Moyne College swimming & diving. Senior Alison Lesher earned the program's first ever individual national championship as she was victorious in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:01.66.  Additionally, junior Ricky Chidsey earned honor mention All-America honors in the 100 backstroke as he placed 11th with a time of 50.48.

DAY FOUR:
Alison Lesher wrapped up her championships earning her third All-America honor as she placed seventh in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:24.97.  Ricky Chidsey earned honorable mention honors for the second time in two days as he placed 12th overall in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:51.80.  Freshman Jerry Dumary placed 22nd in the 200 breaststroke posting a time of 2:08.43.
