MTEN: LE MOYNE FALLS TO STONEHILL, 8-1, IN NE-10 ACTION


Easton, Mass. - Tim Fayed posted a straight set win in singles action and teamed for a doubles victory to lead Stonehill to an 8-1 win over Le Moyne College in Northeast-10 Conference men's tennis action on Sunday afternoon at the Sally Blair Ames Sports Complex.

Fayed posted a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles over freshman Daniel Sullivan (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn). Freshman Brian Rice (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) fell to Michael Maskevich, 6-2, 6-2 at second singles, while Mike Leone defeated James Shelp (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) at third singles by a score of 7-6 (7-3), 6-0. Jason Allegretti had a straight set win at No. 4 singles, downing Andrew Gleason (Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) 6-3, 6-1, while Will Herchel recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win at fifth singles over Joseph Persia (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport). Senior Ben Jordan (Cassville, N.Y./Mt. Markham) earned Le Moyne's only win of the match with an 8-5 victory at sixth singles over Jon Burke.

In doubles action, Fayed and Maskevich topped Rice and Sullivan, 8-4, at the number one spot. Allegretti and Herchel recorded an 8-4 win at second doubles over Shelp and Persia, while Leone and Jon Burke registered an 8-5 victory over Chris Meeker and Jordan at third doubles.

Le Moyne (4-9, NE-10 2-5) returns to action on Saturday, April 4 at home against Assumption at 11:00 a.m.
