WTEN: DOLPHINS CRUISE PAST SAINT ROSE 9-0

SYRACUSE, NY - The Le Moyne College women's tennis team swept past The College of Saint Rose 9-0 on Wednesday in their spring NE-10 home opener. The Dolphins earned their third conference victory to improve to 3-5 in the league. Saint Rose drops to 2-7 in the NE-10, 3-12 overall.

In number-one singles, Tirzah Walrath (Cortland, NY / Cortland) earned her fourth singles victory of the season with a 6-1, 6-0 straight-sets decision over Melissa Leighton. Allison Cohen (Fayetteville, NY / Jamesville-DeWitt) defeated Rachael O'Brien 6-1, 6-2 to earn team leading sixth singles victory.  Freshman Caroline Tisdell (Syracuse, NY / CBA) used three sets in defeating Stephanie Paine for her fourth victory of the season.  Marielle Artessa (Syracuse, NY / Henninger), Brittany Recchia (LaGrange, NY / Our Lady of Lourdes/Siena) and Molly Slifer (Henrietta, NY / Bishop Kearney) each defeated their opponents in straight-sets to help the Dolphins to victory.

In doubles action, the Dolphins opened the match taking three straight points. The duo of Walrath and Cohen easily topped Leighton/Paine 8-1.  Artessa / Tisdell and Recchia / Slifer cruised to 8-5 victories for Le Moyne.

The Dolphins return to action on Saturday, April 4th as they travel to Assumption for a 1:00 PM match.
