MTEN: DOLPHINS SHUT OUT ASSUMPTION IN CONFERENCE
MATCH
Syracuse, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College men's tennis team returned
to their winning ways on Saturday afternoon by defeating the
Assumption Greyhounds 9-0 in a conference match-up at the Le Moyne
campus. The victory improves the Dolphins to 5-9, 3-5 in
conference.
Daniel Sullivan (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) picked up the 6-3,
6-1 victory at first singles. Brian Rice
(Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) won 6-4, 6-3 at second
singles. James Shelp (Pittsford,
N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland), who dropped the only set on
the day for the Dolphins, won 6-1, 4-6, 6-1. Andrew Gleason
(Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) secured a victory at fourth
singles by a score of 6-1, 6-2. Joseph Persia (Spencerport,
N.Y./Spencerport) and Ben Jordon (Cassville,
N.Y./Mt. Markham) earned victories in each in one set by
scores of 8-1 and 8-0, respectively. For Jordon, it was his second
consecutive victory.
Rice and Sullivan teamed up to earn a 8-4 victory at first doubles
improving their record to an even 7-7 on the year. Shelp/Gleason
(8-1) and Persia/Jordan (8-0) also picked up wins at the doubles
level.
The Dolphins will continue their home stretch tomorrow against
conference-foe Franklin Pierce at 10:00 AM.
