WTEN: DOLPHINS WIN SECOND STRAIGHT WITH 9-0 SHUTOUT OVER
FRANKLIN PIERCE
SYRACUSE, NY - The Le Moyne College women's tennis team
won their second straight match in dominating fashion by blanking
Franklin Pierce 9-0 on Sunday. With the win, the Dolphins improve
to 4-7 on the season, 4-5 in conference play. The Ravens fall to
2-7, 2-6 in the NE-10.
In number-one singles, Tirzah Walrath (Cortland, NY /
Cortland) blanked FPU's Kaitlin Krolikowksi 6-0, 6-0 to
earn her fifth victory of the season. Allison Cohen
(Fayetteville, NY / Jamesville-DeWitt) improved her team
leading record to 7-4 with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Suzana Deronjic.
Freshman Caroline Tisdell's (Syracuse, NY / CBA)
straight-set victory over Lauren Smilovich clinched the victory for
the Dolphins. Marielle Artessa (Syracuse, NY /
Henninger), Elizabeth Rhode (Penn Yan, NY / Penn Yan
Academy) and Molly Slifer (Henrietta, NY / Bishop
Kearney) all earned pro set victories on the day.
In doubles action earlier in the morning, Walrath and Cohen
improved their record to 8-3 on the year with an 8-2 victory over
Krolikowski and Deronjic.
Le Moyne returns to action on Tuesday, April 7th as the
Dolphins travel to AIC at 4:00 p.m.
