WTEN: DOLPHINS TOP AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL, 8-1, FOR THIRD STRAIGHT
VICTORY
Ludlow, Mass. - The Le Moyne College women's tennis team defeated
American International, 8-1, on Tuesday afternoon at the Ludlow
Tennis Club to register its third consecutive Northeast-10
Conference match.
Junior Marielle Artessa (Syracuse,
N.Y./Henninger) freshmen Caroline Tisdell
(Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and
Brittany Recchia (LaGrange, N.Y./Our Lady of
Lourdes/Siena) earned straight set victories as the
Dolphins won three of four singles matches. Tisdell improved to 6-6
on the season with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Tyler Rockefeller at second
singles. Artessa topped Kelly Mateus, 6-0, 6-1, at third singles to
register her fourth consecutive victory, while Recchia won her
third straight match with a 6-3, 6-0 win at fourth singles over
Sabrina Cruz. Sophomore Molly Slifer (Henrietta,
N.Y./Bishop Kearney) and freshman Elizabeth Rhode
(Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan Academy) were credited with
victories by default at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Sarah Pfefferkorn registered AIC's only win on the day with a
three-set victory over junior Allison Cohen (Fayetteville,
N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt).
Cohen teamed with classmate Tirzah Walrath (Cortland,
N.Y./Cortland) to defeat Pfefferkorn and Rockefeller, 8-3,
at first doubles. Tisdell and Artessa combined to record an 8-0 win
over Mateus and Cruz at second doubles. The tandem of Slifer and
Recchia won by default at third singles.
Le Moyne (5-7, NE-10 5-5) returns to action at home on Thursday,
April 9 against Stonehill at 2:00 p.m.
