WTEN: DOLPHINS FALL TO STONEHILL 8-1
Syracuse, N.Y. - The Le Moyne College women's tennis team dropped
their first match in the last four as Stonehill beat the Dolphins
8-1. With the loss, Le Moyne 5-8 overall, 5-6 in conference.
Picking up the only win for Le Moyne was junior Tirzah
Walrath (Cortland, N.Y./Cortland) who won at first singles
6-1, 2-6, 10-8.
The Dolphins lost all three doubles matches, but put up fights in
each one of them. Walrath and junior Allison Cohen
(Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) lost in first
singles 8-3. Junior Marielle Artessa
(Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger) and freshman
Caroline Tisdell (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers
Academy) lost 8-4 and Brittany Recchia (LaGrange,
N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes/Siena) and Molly Silfer
(Henrietta, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) were defeated 8-6.
Stonehill won five singles victories picking up straight-set wins
in second through sixth singles.
Le Moyne's final two games are on the road against Hamilton on
Thursday, April 16th and at Assumption on Saturday,
April 18th.
