WTEN: LE MOYNE FALLS TO BENTLEY IN NE-10
PLAY-OFFS
WALTHAM, MA – The 2008-09 Le Moyne College women’s
tennis season came to a close on Tuesday in the first round of the
Northeast-10 Conference Tournament with a 5-1 loss to Bentley. Le
Moyne finishes their season with a 6-9 record and a .500 record
(6-6) in conference.
The seventh-seeded Dolphins’ lone victory on the afternoon
came in number-one doubles as juniors Allison Cohen
(Fayetteville, NY / Jamesville-DeWitt) and
Tirzah Walrath (Cortland, NY /
Cortland) teamed up for an 8-0 victory over Marica
Gilbride and Heather Haggery.
With the second-seeded Falcons taking two of three doubles matches,
Bentley needed only to record three victories in singles play to
advance to the next round of the tournament. They will advance to
face the winner of the #6 Saint Anselm / #3 Southern New Hampshire
match.
Under first-year head coach Rosemary DeHoog, the Dolphins closed
the 08-09 campaign winners of four of their last six matches.
