DOLPHINS FALL TO MERRIMACK, 7-2
Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team was defeated by Merrimack, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Gold's Gym.
The Warriors won both of the doubles matches that were played. Max Eppley and Sean Pahler teamed to beat senior Daniel Sullivan (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) and Ken Schiefer (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool/Onondaga C.C.), 9-7, at first doubles. Senior James Shelp (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) and sophomore Daryl Johnson (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) was knocked off by Petar Golijanin and Chris Barnhart, 8-1, at second doubles. Merrimack conceded the third doubles points due to only having five players.
At first singles, Barnhart posted a 6-0, 6-1 win over Sullivan, while Eppley defeated Shelp, 6-4, 6-0 at second singles. Golijanin was victorious over senior Joseph Persia (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) at third singles, 6-3, 6-0, while Pahler picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over senior Andrew Gleason (Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) at fourth singles. Chris Toegemann posted an 8-4 win over Schiefer at the fifth spot with the sixth singles point being conceded.
Le Moyne (0-2, 0-2 NE-10) returns to action on Sunday against Adelphi.
