DOLPHINS WIN SECOND STRAIGHT MATCH, 7-2, AT PACE

Pleasantville, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team registered its second straight win with a 7-2 victory at Pace in Northeast-10 Conference action on Saturday.

The Dolphins won the two doubles matches that were played and got the point at third doubles by default as the Setters only had five players. At first doubles, seniors Daniel Sullivan (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) and Ken Schiefer (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool/Onondaga C.C.) defeated Mike Metesan and Khari Linton, 8-6. Senior James Shelp (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Sutherland) and sophomore Daryl Johnson (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) teamed at second doubles to beat Mattia Pastore and Brett Ringelheim, 8-5.

Sullivan won the closest match of the day over Metesan at first singles. After dropping the first set, 6-4, he rebounded to take the second and third sets by back-to-back scores of 6-3. Shelp picked up the point at second singles with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Pastore, while senior Andrew Gleason (Gorham, Maine/Cheverus) downed Vinnie Birkenmeyer at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-1. Linton got the Setters in the win column with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 with at third singles over senior Joseph Persia (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport), while Ringelheim added a 6-0, 6-3 victory over sophomore Allesandro Nieves (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) the fifth spot. Schiefer got the point at sixth singles by default.

Le Moyne (2-3, 2-3 NE-10) wraps up its fall schedule on Sunday at Bentley at 11:00 a.m.
