Manchester, N.H. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team completed its first weekend of the season with an 8-1 loss at Saint Anselm on Sunday morning in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Saint Anselm Outdoor Tennis Courts.

The Hawks opened the match by sweeping the three doubles matches. At the first spot, Chris Schwab and Nick Schwab teamed to defeat juniors Alessandro Nieves (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and Daryl Johnson (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) by a score of 8-3. Joseph Zucchi and Kyle White combined for an 8-4 win at second doubles over graduate student Michael Green (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and sophomore Shane Evans (Oswego, N.Y./Pulaski). Michael Hanna and John Joyce completed the sweep with an 8-3 win over sophomore John Gerstner (East Rochester, N.Y./East Rochester) and freshman Blaine Drake (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) at third doubles.

Johnson picked up Le Moyne's point by recording a 6-3, 6-3 win at third singles over Zucchi. Chris Schwab was a 6-2, 6-4 winner over Evans at first singles, while Nick Schwab topped Nieves, 6-2, 6-1, at the second spot. White and Hanna registered 6-0, 6-4 victories over Green and senior Robert Brooks (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton) at fourth and fifth singles, respectively. Andrew Overton picked up the win at sixth singles, 6-3, 6-3, over Drake.

Le Moyne (0-2, 0-2 NE-10) returns to the courts for its home opener on Thursday, September 27 against Bentley at 3:00 p.m.
