MEN’S TENNIS FALLS IN HOME OPENER TO BENTLEY

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis fell in its home opener to Bentley, 9-0, on Thursday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at the Skytop Tennis Courts.

At first doubles, Bentley's Rodrigo Ribeiro and Jimmy Rindo teamed to defeat junior Daryl Johnson (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) and sophomore Shane Evans (Oswego, N.Y./Pulaski) by a score of 8-5. Andrew Waddington and Raghav Tanna combined to post an 8-4 win over graduate student Michael Green (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and junior Alessandro Nieves (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) at second doubles, while Peter Koopman and Alex DeMuth were victorious at third doubles over freshman Blaine Drake (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and Tyler Shaban (Liverpool, N.Y./C.W. Baker), 8-0.

 Evans played the closest match of the day, but fell to Ribeiro at first singles, 6-3, 6-3. At second singles, Rindo was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Nieves, while Waddington topped Johnson at the third spot by a score of 6-1, 6-3. Tanna posted a 6-0, 6-2 victory at fourth singles over Green. Koopman registered a 6-1, 6-0 win over Drake at fifth singles, while Evan Chomka downed freshman John Gerstner (East Rochester, N.Y./East Rochester), 6-0, 6-0, at sixth singles.

Le Moyne (0-3, 0-3 NE-10) returns to the courts on Sunday, October 7 at Saint Michael's at 11:00 a.m.
