ROBERTS WESLEYAN RECORDS 9-0 WIN OVER MEN’S TENNIS

Liverpool, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team resumed play in the spring semester with a 9-0 loss to Roberts Wesleyan College on Saturday afternoon at Gold's Gym.

In doubles action, the duo of Charles Farres and Sam Thorold registered an 8-2 win at the top spot over sophomore Shane Evans (Oswego, N.Y./Pulaski) and Alessandro Nieves (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker). At the second spot, Beka Buchukuri and Robert Beer were 8-0 winners over graduate student Michael Green (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and junior Daryl Johnson (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa), while Julio Toledo and Jordan Sadowitz recorded an 8-0 win over freshmen Tyler Shaban (Liverpool, N.Y./C.W. Baker) and Blaine Drake (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) at third doubles.

At first singles, Buchukuri knocked off Johnson by scores of 6-1 and 6-1. In the closest match of the day, Toledo recorded a 6-1, 7-5 victory over Evans at second singles. Farres was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Nieves at third singles, while Thorold posted a 6-1, 6-0 win over Green at fourth singles. At the fifth spot, Beer registered a 6-0, 6-2 victory over sophomore John Gerstner (East Rochester, N.Y./East Rochester), while Emanuel Rauchle topped senior Robert Brooks (Rochester, N.Y./Brighton), 6-0, 6-0, at sixth singles.

Le Moyne (1-7) returns to action on Wednesday, April 3 against American International at 3:00 p.m.
