MCANDREW FIRST, MICARONI FOURTH AT GOLDEN KNIGHTS JOUST

Loudonville, N.Y. - Junior Jake McAndrew (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) finished in first place to lead the Le Moyne College men's cross country team to a seventh-place finish at the Saint Rose Golden Knights Joust on Saturday, Sept. 6 at The Crossings at Colonie. Freshman Gina Micaroni (Blossvale, N.Y./Canastota) crossed the finish line fourth to lead the women's squad to a sixth-place finish. RPI won both the men's and women's team titles.

McAndrew, who finished second at last week's Buffalo State Invitational, crossed the finish line in 26:28 to take the individual title by 12 seconds. Senior co-captain Peter Gratien (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) was the second Dolphin to finish, crossing the line in 27:49 for 14th place. Raph Kopecky (Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt), Michael Notar (Schenectady, N.Y./Schalmont) and Charlie Deragon (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) rounded out the top-5 finishers for the Dolphins.

On the women's side, Micaroni finished fourth in 19:21. Senior Kelsey Ryan (Warsaw, N.Y./Livonia) completed the three-mile course in 11th place in 20:04, while junior Chelsea Gibson (Weedsport, N.Y./Weedsport) finished 30th in 20:59. Alycia Hall (Medway, Mass./Medway) and Kate Brondum (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) rounded out the top-5 finishers for Le Moyne. Mary Lynn Denholm of St. Michael's won the women's race in 18:12.

Le Moyne returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 13 at Oswego State's Pat Peterson Invitational.
