Softball: Dolphins host Pace and Southern Connecticut this
weekend
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Le Moyne women's softball looks to extend a six game winning streak this Saturday as they host a doubleheader against Pace. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon at the Niland Athletic Complex. The Dolphins are also hosting the Southern Connecticut Owls on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
The Dolphins, with a 10-8 overall record and a 2-0 Northeast-10 record, are led offensively by senior shortstop Jennifer Winters (Vestal, N.Y. / Vestal). Winters is hitting .393 on the season, with 16 RBI's, 13 runs scored and four stolen bases. Winters is leading the Northeast-10 in RBI's and is also in the top five in six other categories. Also helping out offensively for the Dolphins is junior catcher Kristen DesLauriers (Liverpool, N.Y. / Liverpool) with a .311 batting average, nine RBI's and eight runs scored. Leading the way for the Setters (7-7, 3-1 NE-10, prior to 4/6/2006) is sophomore infielder D.J. Ketchel. Ketchel is batting .324 with seven RBI's and three runs scored.
Leading the way for the Le Moyne Dolphins on the mound is sophomore Sarah Reed (Dewitt, N.Y. / Jamesville-Dewitt), who was named the Northeast-10 softball pitcher of the week. Reed has posted a 4-5 record with a 0.78 ERA and 60 strikeouts. Reed is leading the Northeast-10 in two different categories, ERA and strikeouts, and is also in the top five in five other categories. Also helping out on the mound for Le Moyne is junior Martha Senko (Pine City N.Y. / Elmira Free Academy) with a 3-1 record, a 4.06 ERA and 27 strikeouts. Pace's leader on the mound is junior Julia Hunt, who has posted a 4-3 record with a 3.45 ERA and 32 strikeouts.
Southern Connecticut comes to Le Moyne with an 8-12-1 overall record and a 2-1 Northeast-10 record, as of April 6. Heading the top of the statistics for the Owls is freshman outfielder Brittany Gandley. Gandley is batting .321 with 14 RBI's, 11 runs scored and 32 total bases on the season. Sitting at the top of the stats on the mound for Southern Connecticut is senior pitcher Kelly Brenner. Brenner is leading the way with a 5-4 record, a 3.00 ERA, 43 strikeouts and 53.2 innings pitched.
