LE MOYNE SOPHOMORE EMMA MURPHY AND FRESHMAN JENNIFER FARRELLY HONORED BY NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE
EASTON, MA - Sophomore Emma Murphy (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) and freshman Jennifer Farrelly (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) have garnered top honors from the Northeast-10 Conference for their efforts in a 4-2 week. Murphy has been named the Northeast-10 Conference Softball Player of the Week, while Farrelly was named the Freshman of the Week. Murphy hit .391 (9-23), scored six runs, homered four times and drove in nine runs. She slugged .957 and posted a .391 on base average. Farrelly hit .533 (8-15) with two home runs, nine runs batted in, five runs scored, and slugged 1.000.
In a doubleheader sweep of Saint Rose, Murphy went 3-for-7 with two home runs and five runs batted in. Farrelly went 1-for-4 with two runs batted in.
At Southern New Hampshire, Murphy went 2-for-7, while Farrelly went 2-for-6, hit her first career home run, and scored two runs.
Against Saint Anselm, Murphy was 4-for-9 with two home runs, four runs batted in, and scored three times. Farrelly went 5-for-5 in the doubleheader sweep. She doubled, homered, drove in six runs, and scored three times.
For the season, Murphy is batting .291 with a team-high six home runs, 17 runs batted in, 16 runs scored, and four doubles. Farrelly is hitting .238 with two home runs, 10 runs batted in, and six runs scored. In the pitcher's circle, Farrelly is 1-2 in six appearances with a 2.70 earned run average and 17 strikeouts.
The Dolphins (17-13, 9-5 NE-10) begin an eight-game homestand by hosting American International on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
