THREE FROM LE MOYNE NAMED TO NORTHEAST-10 CONFERENCE SOFTBALL ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

SOUTH EASTON, Mass. - Kortney Meadows (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park), Sarah Reed (DeWitt, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) and Ashley Anderson (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) have earned academic honors from the Northeast-10 Conference. Meadows and Reed have been named to the Northeast-10 Conference All-Academic first team, while Anderson garnered a spot on the second team.

A Biology major, Meadows carries a 3.84 grade point average. In 48 games, the sophomore outfielder has hit .254 with one home run and 19 RBI.

Reed, a Mathematics major, has a 3.57 grade point average. The sophomore pitcher is 17-9 with a 1.64 ERA in 27 games. A first-team all-conference selection, she went 3-0 as Le Moyne captured its fourth NCAA Division II Northeast Regional Championship. Reed, who hits cleanup for the Dolphins, is hitting .305 with four home runs and 19 RBI in 51 games.

Anderson, a senior Communications major, also carries a 3.57 grade point average. Anderson, a starter in the outfield for all 51 games, has made her senior year her best - hitting .251 with 31 RBI.

To be eligible for selection to the academic teams, a student-athlete must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements: 1) participated in at least half of the team's competitions and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and 3) completed at least one academic year at his/her current institution. The Northeast-10 All-Academic Teams are chosen by a vote of the Northeast-10 Sports Information Directors.

Le Moyne (32-19) has captured its second consecutive NCAA Northeast Region Championship and fourth in five seasons. The seventh-seeded Dolphins edged second-seeded Adelphi 3-1, No. 6 seed Queens 10-1 and upset top-seeded LIU-C.W. Post 5-4. As the lone unbeaten team in the rain-shortened tournament, Le Moyne was declared the regional champion.

The Dolphins will meet No. 3 Florida Southern (53-6) on Thursday at noon in the opening round of the eight-team double-elimination tournament.
