Le Moyne Athletics : Le Moyne softball splits at Palm Beach Atlantic, Senko fans six in game one win

LE MOYNE SOFTBALL SPLITS WITH PALM BEACH ATLANTIC, DOLPHINS WIN OPENER 3-2 FOR SECOND EXTRA-INNING WIN OF SEASON

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. - Sarah Reed's (DeWitt, N.Y./Jamesville-Dewitt) sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth scored Kortney Meadows (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) with the winning run as No. 8 Le Moyne edged Palm Beach Atlantic 3-2 in the first game of a softball doubleheader at Howard Park. The Sailfish (7-16) blanked Le Moyne (2-5) 4-0 in the second game.

Senior Martha Senko (Pine City, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy) struck out six for her first win of the season. Senior Lindsay Spaziani (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) had three of Le Moyne's five hits. Junior Emma Murphy (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) and freshman Bailey Phillips (Rochester, N.Y./Greece Arcadia) also registered hits.

In the nightcap, Andrea Fugate (4-5) struck out six and allowed just three Le Moyne hits to pick up her fourth win of the season. Spaziani, Reed and freshman Kelly Schweikert (Rochester, N.Y./Spencerport) had Le Moyne's hits.

Each of Le Moyne's wins this season have come in eight innings. The Dolphins also topped Florida Tech in extra innings on Saturday. Le Moyne returns to action tomorrow at Barry.
