DOLPHINS SWEEP DOWLING 1-0 and 3-1

Oakdale, N.Y. - Senior Lindsay Spaziani (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) recorded three hits and scored three runs to lead Le Moyne to a doubleheader sweep of Dowling in non-conference women's softball 1-0 and 3-1. Le Moyne improves its record to 6-9 on the season, while the Golden Lions drop to 7-11.

Spaziani doubled to lead-off game one and Sarah Reed (DeWitt, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) drove her in two batters later for the only run the Dolphins would need. Senior southpaw Martha Senko (Pine City, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy) went the distance in the circle in recording her first shut-out of the season. Senko yielded only four hits while striking out six.

In game two, Spaziani recorded two of the Dolphins six hits and scored the first two runs of the game. Junior Kortney Meadows (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) homered in the seventh to tack on an insurance run. Sophomore Jennifer Farrelly (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) went five innings to pick up her first win of the season. Reed came on in the sixth to record her second save.

The Dolphins and Golden Lions return to action tomorrow for a 3:30 first pitch.
