DESLAURIERS AND SCHWEIKERT HONERED BY NORTHEAST-10
CONFERENCE
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Senior catcher Kristen DesLauriers (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and freshman shortstop Kelly Schweikert (Rochester, N.Y./Spencerport) have received honors from the Northeast-10 Conference for their performances last week. DesLauriers was recognized as the Northeast-10 Conference softball player of the week, while Schweikert garnered honors as the softball freshman of the week.
DesLauriers hit .533 (8-for-15) with three doubles, four home runs, and fourteen runs batted in. She also slugged 1.533 while scoring four runs. In game one of a double header against Bentley, she belted three three-run home runs while going 4-for-5 and driving in ten runs. In game two of the double header, she blasted her fourth home run of the day, while going 2-for-3 with a double. This marks the second time this season that DesLauriers has been honored by the conference as the player of the week. For the season, DesLauriers is batting .273 with a team-leading six doubles, five home runs and 19 runs batted in. Behind the plate, she has thrown out 11 base-runners in 16 steal attempts and picked off two base-runners.
Schweikert hit .636 (7-for-11) with two doubles, a home run, three runs batted in, and scored five runs in leading the Dolphins to a 4-0 record. She also stole three bases in three attempts and slugged 1.091. In the doubleheader sweep of Bentley, went 6-for-7 with two doubles, a home run, and scored four runs. In game one, she went 4-for-4, while blasting her first career home run and scoring three times. For the season, Schweikert is batting .241 with four doubles, six runs batted in, nine runs scored and a team-high five stolen bases.
The Northeast-10 leading Dolphins, winners of five straight conference games and eleven of twelve overall, return to action on Thursday April 19 at Assumption at 3:30 p.m.
